Our Story

Hurstbridge Horse and Pony Club
Established in 1975, Hurstbridge Horse and Pony Club has proudly served the local equestrian community for over five decades. Founded with a vision to create a safe, supportive, and family-oriented environment, the club has consistently nurtured both horsemanship and friendships, uniting individuals with shared passions and goals.

We hold monthly rallies on the first Sunday of each month (excluding January) at our beautiful home grounds in Hurstbridge. Nestled among tranquil native bushland behind St Peters Church, our location offers a peaceful and scenic setting—perfect for riders and their ponies to train and connect with nature.

Over the years, the club has grown into a vibrant hub for equestrian education. In 1996, we celebrated our 25th anniversary with a commemorative rally, marking an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to riders of all ages and skill levels.

Our shared grounds include:

  • Five 60×20 sand arenas and one 40×20 arena

  • A dedicated cross-country course

  • Showjumping and mounted games equipment

  • Spacious clubrooms and toilets

  • Float parking, horse yards, and a wash bay

We proudly cater to all disciplines—cross-country, showjumping, dressage, and games—and offer a popular lead-line and beginner program for young riders. These sessions provide a gentle introduction to pony club life in a fun, small-group environment, with parent participation encouraged.

Hurstbridge Horse and Pony Club is affiliated with the Pony Club Association of Victoria (PCAV), under the Northern Metropolitan Zone (NMZ), and continues to uphold the highest standards of safety, instruction, and community spirit.

New members are always welcome. Come join us at Hurstbridge and experience the joy of riding in a truly supportive environment.

Our Facilities

We offer all-weather dressage and showjump arenas, as well as a cross country course catering for PCV. Our club house provides a welcoming and comfortable environment for all our members.

Arenas

At Hurstbridge Horse and Pony Club, our two sand arenas—measuring 40×20 metres and 60×20 metres—are an essential part of our rallies and training days. Surrounded by the natural beauty of Hurstbridge’s bushland, these arenas provide a safe, spacious, and well-maintained environment for riders to learn and grow. Whether practicing dressage, showjumping, or mounted games, riders of all levels benefit from the supportive and structured space our arenas offer—reflecting the club’s strong focus on safety, skill development, and community.

Cross Country Course

Our cross-country course at Hurstbridge Horse and Pony Club offers a fun and challenging environment for riders to build confidence and develop essential skills. Set within our picturesque bushland grounds, the course features a variety of thoughtfully designed obstacles suitable for all Pony Club levels. It provides the perfect setting for riders to learn balance, control, and rhythm in a natural terrain—enhancing both horse and rider experience in a safe, supportive setting.

PCV Certificates

Pony Club Victoria offers a structured Proficiency Certificate Program designed to develop riders’ skills in horse care, riding, and overall horsemanship. The program includes progressive levels—E, D, D\*, C, C\*, K, B, and A—each building on the last to encourage learning and achievement. These certificates combine practical riding assessments with theoretical knowledge, providing members with a clear, recognised pathway for equestrian education and personal development.

Club House

The clubhouse at Hurstbridge Horse and Pony Club is the heart of our community—providing a warm, welcoming space for riders, families, and visitors to gather on rally days. Nestled in our tranquil bushland setting behind St Peters Church, the clubhouse hosts theory sessions, social activities, and offers essential amenities to support a smooth rally experience. One of the highlights is our canteen, open on rally days, serving a range of delicious homemade food and snacks—making it the perfect place to relax and refuel between riding sessions.
